Breaking Ground with Chalk and Notch

Welcome to my second post on the Breaking Ground Blog Tour.  I really liked this tour I’m already thinking about next year.  I wanted to make something for my son or my husband, but Little Bit always wins because sewing for her is so much faster and much more fun. #sorrynotsorry

Today’s post is another new to me designer Chalk and Notch.  Brooke from IdleSunshine made the Cascade Maxi Dress this past November and all I remember is this gorgeous blue contrast piece. I had to have it, but let’s be honest who’s thinking about sun dresses right after Thanksgiving? This girl. I bought it.  Fast forward several months and I couldn’t decide what I wanted to make for this tour. Then I remembered I had this pattern and spring has fake sprung in NJ.

A little about the Cascade Maxi Dress there are 2 views and it comes in 9 sizes.  I really liked the layout of their instructions.  They had hyperlinks at the top of each page.  You can click them and go right to the information you need.  I. LOVE. THAT.

The pleat detail in the front is just enough to make this simple dress perfect.  It was a fast sew. It’s even faster when you aren’t sleep sewing and making silly mistakes.

Overall, we loved this one too.  I put the dress on her and she immediately started twirling. That’s a win right?

Today is FULL of bloggers breaking ground. Check out the other great creations being revealed today.

  1. Oh my, dresses like this make me wish I had girls to sew for. The design is just right for showing off large scale prints too.

I have some black sweater knit that I was going to make myself a cardigan and pencil skirt out of…it got used for small people things… I might be able to get one or the other out of it still. LOL
